Minnesota Network Services began with a simple concept - to provide Internet access to rural communities that other companies viewed as limited, unprofitable ventures.
Formed in 1996 by four local residents from Slayton, Garvin, and Marshall, equipment and services were acquired, and dialup service was initially established in Woodstock, Holland, Ruthton, Russell, and Garvin, Minnesota. Dialup service began "beta testing" in January 1997, and service was first advertised in March of 1997.
At the time, all areas were served using analog modems, and sites interconnected using 56k leased lines - how times change!
Naturally, our customers' needs changed, our service needs changed, and equipment technology changed - fairly rapidly in fact! And MNNS has, and continues to dedicate ourselves to changing with them!
Now serving a large area of southwest Minnesota, MNNS has one of the best connected backbone networks in the area, with high-capacity fiber optic service us to the Internet's backbone - giving the best possible service availability to our customers.
While other providers have come - and gone - MNNS continues it's tradition of being locally owned and operated, with our commitment to exploring new technology and expanding our service offerings and areas stronger than ever! Our high speed wireless network now spans from North of Boyd to South of Slayton, West of Balaton to East of Tracy - and is expanding!
